✴ weekend gardener

lovage, fennel, chives, black peppermint and catnip
spinach, lettuce, rocket and runner beans awaiting planting
hello garlic!
gooseberry bush blossoms - hopefully enough for jam this year
 and taking it easy!

As weekend gardener I found myself taking a leisurely relaxing approach to getting jobs done in the garden.
In other words, I didn't really get my hands dirty but there was much wandering, admiring and patting of one's back over small accomplishment so far ( in that things do appear to actually be growing, yay! ) and of course much tea supping.
There is still so much to do though. For example, is it possible to over chit (careful..!) seed potatoes?? As mine have been merrily chitting ( again..!) away in the kitchen for a few weeks now....Hhhmmm....

What's happening in your garden?

  1. Your garden looks like its chugging along happily. I have a pesky possum who likes to dine on my rocket, cos, parsley, etc.etc. Have to laugh :)

  2. Oooh well done on all your lovely greenery

Like you I only ever manage to get out into the garden at weekends. I actually think there is some sort of conspiracy with the weather – bright sunshine all week to encourage growth and then rain all weekend so no maintenance can be done :o(

This year is only my second attempt at potatoes so no idea how much chitting is appropriate, however, mine have a good bunch of leaves poking through so hoping for a decent crop, and I’ve still got 4 out of the 5 strawberry plants alive so certainly progress for my not so green fingers
