✴ très chic, grandma!

This week I have grabbed for myself, from the local charity shop, a beautiful stash of granny chic loveliness; doilies, tray cloths, tablecloths and antimacassars. Oh and some lovely screen printed fabric that has a look of some Sanderson fabric my mum covered the settees with in the '70's.
I've already got several ideas for the re-modeling and up-cycling of these.
I'm thinking cushion covers, aprons, bags and general 'shabby chic'ing!
One is already so perfect for a vintage pinny it's like it was meant to be.

✴ steptoes dog

I would dearly love to be able to rummage for hours in the many charity and antique shops that are nearby to us but alas sometimes some things are just impossible with an energetic toddler and a pushchair. So occasionally a girl has to look to modern ways to get her vintage fix.
Steptoes Dog Antiques is an online antique shop with some fabulous vintage finds...
My order arrived this weekend.
Treasures ~
one bag of assorted vintage buttons
one 1930's buckle
two 1930's side plates
one bag of ten assorted vintage tray cloths

The vintage buttons are being sorted and put together to make decorative hair grips.
The side plates are to go on a patch of wall which needs some decoration (more plates to find...)
The tray cloths are for crafty purposes and fabric scraps. There were some pretty crochet doilies one which just goes so perfectly on our arts and crafts sideboard in the hallway so there it shall stay.
Another of the cloths has been part embroidered which makes me wonder at the story behind this unfinished piece of work....Hmmmm perhaps a busy mama like me, with grand ideas and very little time!!!

✴ raining cats and grannies

It has poured with rain all day. All day! Not ideal to be housebound with a fractious one year old and two stir crazy pusscats. If I haven't been tripping up over musical toys and stepping in discarded rice cakes on the floor then I've been constantly opening the back door and patiently waiting for the in/out? decision of a small furry one.
Hooray for the biscuit bribe. Organic chocolate for the one year old and Whiskas treats for the furry ones, and let's hope I got them the right way round...
Fallen somewhat behind with the grannies... Just over a quarter of the way there, I reckon. But it's all good.
